What's the difference between brewing with whole beans and pre-ground coffee?

When brewing with whole beans, the integrated grinder automatically grinds the beans during brewing with the Grinder On setting. For pre-ground coffee, you must insert the gold-tone reusable filter in the brew basket, add pre-ground coffee using the included scoop without exceeding the MAX fill line, press the Grinder Off button, and then start brewing.
