Why does my dishwasher seem to run for a very long time?

The cycle time can vary because sensors automatically increase cycle length when heavy soil is detected or when incoming water is not warm enough. Other causes include an empty rinse agent dispenser or the dishwasher being connected to a cold water supply. Run the hot water faucet at the nearest sink before starting a cycle to help. (Page 17)
