What safety precautions must I follow before performing any maintenance on the tractor?

Before performing any maintenance or repairs, disengage all controls (PTO), move the shift lever into the neutral position, set the parking brake, stop the engine, and remove the key to prevent unintended starting. Disconnect the spark plug wire and ground it against the engine to prevent unintended starting. Always wear safety glasses during any adjustments or repairs. (Page 21)
