How do I clean the filter on my Dyson Airstrait?

Unplug the straightener and let it cool down, then pull down on the filter unit to release it from the machine and slide it off the cable. Soak the filter in warm, soapy water — using clarifying shampoo or dish soap — for at least 30 minutes, then gently rub both inside and outside surfaces. Shake off excess water and leave it to dry for 24 hours in a well-ventilated place before refitting. (Page 9)
