What is the purpose of filling out the Consumer Product Ownership Registration card?

The Consumer Product Ownership Registration card should be filled out and returned as it is important for warranty purposes. (Page 2) If you cannot find the card, a duplicate is printed in the back of this manual. Proof of the original purchase date is needed to obtain service under the warranty.
