What causes suds in the dishwasher tub and how do I fix it?

Suds are caused by using the wrong detergent — only automatic dishwasher detergents should be used, such as Cascade Automatic Dishwashing Detergent. To remove suds, open the dishwasher and let them evaporate, then add 1 gallon of cold water to the tub, close and latch the door, and pump out the water by pressing START/RESET twice. Repeat if necessary.
