Why are my dishes coming out with spots and filming on them?

Spotting can be caused by several factors: extremely hard water, low inlet water temperature, overloading the dishwasher, improper loading, old or damp powder detergent, phosphate level in detergent too low, an empty rinse agent dispenser, or too little detergent. To remove stubborn spots and film, remove all metal utensils, add no detergent, select Normal Wash, run for 15-20 minutes, then pour 2 cups of white vinegar into the bottom and complete the cycle.
