Why is my detergent cup lid not latching after I add detergent?

The Cycle Indicator Dial must be in the OFF position for the detergent cup lid to close and latch properly. If you have unlatched the door and opened it to dry dishes, the Cycle Indicator Dial does not automatically advance to OFF by itself, so you must manually turn it to OFF before adding detergent. (Page 11)
