What is the correct way to use the fabric softener dispenser?

Make sure the dispenser is securely attached to the agitator, then pour the recommended amount of liquid fabric softener into the dispenser and add water until it reaches the maximum fill line. Do not stop the washer during the first spin, as this will cause the dispenser to empty too soon. Never pour fabric softener directly on clothes as it may stain them, and do not use the dispenser with the AUTO SOAK or Extra Rinse cycles. (Page 11)
