What causes cloudiness on glassware and can it be fixed?
Cloudiness on glassware is called etching and is caused by a combination of soft water and too much detergent — this damage is permanent and cannot be reversed. To prevent etching, use less detergent if you have soft water and wash glassware in the shortest cycle that will get them clean. Water temperature exceeding 150°F can also contribute to cloudiness, so lowering the water heater temperature may help. (Page 22)
