What safety precautions should I follow when cleaning the air filter?

Before cleaning the unit, make sure the power and circuit breaker are both turned off, as the fan rotates at very high speed during operation and could cause injury if accidentally activated. Do not touch the metal parts of the unit when removing the filter, as the sharp edges can cause injury. Never use water to clean the inside of the air conditioner, as it can destroy the insulation and lead to electric shock. (Pages 4–5)
