What weld cable sizes should I use with the Big Blue 400D?
Cable size depends on both the welding amperes and total cable length in the weld circuit. For example, at 200 amperes with 10-60% duty cycle and 100 feet or less cable length, use size 3 (30 mm²) cable. At 300 amperes with 100% duty cycle and 250 feet of cable, use 3/0 (95 mm²) cable. Do not use worn, damaged, undersized, or poorly spliced cables, as this can cause excessive heat and fire, or damage the machine.
