How do I test if my eggs are fresh enough to use?

Fill a large glass with water to the top and place each egg in it one at a time. Eggs that sink and settle horizontally at the bottom are the freshest; eggs that float to the top are bad and should not be used; eggs that sink but settle in a more vertical position are still good but less fresh and should be eaten as soon as possible.
