What happens during equalization charging with my Rover charge controller?

Equalization increases battery voltage above normal levels to dissolve accumulated lead sulfate, but must occur without load on the batteries. It is specifically meant for non-sealed/vented/flooded/wet cells and should only be done as per manufacturer's guidelines (Page 25).
