What is the proper water temperature for dishwashing?

For best dishwashing results, water should be 120°F (49°C) as it enters the dishwasher. To check water temperature, run hot water at the faucet closest to your dishwasher for at least 1 minute, place a candy or meat thermometer in a glass measuring cup, and check the temperature as the water runs into the cup.
