What should I do before storing the air conditioner long term?

Before storing, drain any water from the tank and run the unit in ventilation-only mode for a few hours to thoroughly dry the interior. Then clean or change the filter, unplug and store the power cord, and place the unit back into its original box. Store the unit in a dry place where children cannot access it. (Page 13)
