How often should I clean the dishwasher filters?

Clean the filter 3 times a year if you rinse before loading, 4 times a year if you only scrape, 6 times a year if you don't rinse or scrape, or 12 times a year if you have hard water. Always clean the filter after washing loads with large amounts of food soils or heavy starch content like potatoes and pasta. (Page 35)
