How can I safely store my Briggs & Stratton engine for an extended period?

Before long-term storage, change oil while the engine is still warm; pour about a half-ounce of oil into spark plug cavity and crank starter rope slowly to distribute; add fuel stabilizer or drain gas from tank if not using Fresh Start™ cap; clean dirt from entire unit removing combustible materials around muffler. Store in dry conditions out of reach of appliances with open flame/pilot light (Page 19).
