What does it mean if the battery icon blinks on the LCD panel?

A blinking battery icon indicates low battery level. When the battery is low, film advance and auto rewind might stop midway or not work at all. A proper exposure can still be obtained as long as the shutter releases, but replace the batteries with new ones to resume normal operation (p.5).
