How do I detect and clear a paper jam in the ADF?
A paper jam is detected by the Document End Sensor (DES) when there is a delay in reaching it, when the sensor is activated at power-on indicating residual paper, or when a document longer than 400 mm is detected. When a jam occurs, the machine stops scanning and displays 'CHECK DOCUMENT' on the control panel. To release the jam, remove the jammed paper and open/close the ADF upper cover.
