How do I safely clear a clogged discharge chute?

Shut off the engine and remove the ignition key. Wait 10 seconds to ensure the impeller blades have stopped rotating. Always use the clean-out tool (not your hands) to dislodge and scoop any snow and ice from the chute assembly. Never use your hands to clear a clogged chute as hand contact with the rotating impeller is the most common cause of injury.
