1

How do I program beverages according to my taste preferences?

Access the settings menu (B6), customize beverage quantities or aroma as explained in sections “6.3 Program beverages” and “6.4 Program My beverages”, then press OK to accept changes.

2

How do I descale the Dinamica and how long does it take?

When 'DESCALING NEEDED PRESS OK TO START (~45MIN)' appears, press OK and follow the on-screen steps: remove the water filter, add one 100ml pack of De'Longhi descaler to level A in the tank and fill to level B with water, then place a 2-litre container under the spouts. The full descaling cycle takes approximately 45 minutes and includes automatic rinse cycles; only De'Longhi descaler should be used, as unsuitable products can cause faults not covered by the warranty. (Page 18-19)

3

How do I restore the machine to its default/factory settings?

Go to the settings menu by pressing the menu button (C3), then select 'DEFAULT VALUES' and press OK to confirm. This resets all menu settings and programmed quantities for all profiles back to default values, with the exception of the language setting which remains as previously set. (Page 10)

4

How do I clean the infuser and how often should I do it?

The infuser (A20) must be cleaned at least once a month. Turn the machine off, remove the water tank, open the infuser door (A19), press the two colored release buttons and pull the infuser out, then soak it in water for about 5 minutes and rinse under the tap — use water only, no washing-up detergent or dishwasher. After cleaning, slide the infuser back onto the internal support and push it in until it clicks into place. (Page 16-17)

5

Why does my coffee taste weak or lack crema, and how do I fix it?

Weak or uncreamy coffee is usually caused by a grind that is too coarse. Turn the grinding adjustment dial (A5) one click anticlockwise toward '1' while the grinder is in operation, and note that the effect will only be visible after delivering at least 2 cups. Other possible causes include using unsuitable coffee (use espresso-grade beans) or stale coffee from a pack opened too long ago. (Page 27)

6

What should I do when the 'EMPTY GROUNDS CONTAINER' message appears?

Remove the drip tray (A15), empty the coffee grounds container (A11), and clean it thoroughly to remove all residues using the spatula on the cleaning brush (D5) provided. The machine cannot be used to make coffee until the grounds container has been emptied and replaced. Importantly, every time you remove the drip tray, the grounds container must be emptied even if it contains only a few grounds, to prevent it overfilling and clogging the machine. (Page 15, 22)

  • ####### 12. CLEANING

  • 12.1 Cleaning the machine The following parts of the machine must be cleaned regularly:
  • - the appliance’s internal circuit;
  • - coffee grounds container (A11);
  • - drip tray (A15) and condensate tray (A10);
  • - water tank (A17);
  • - coffee spouts (A9);
  • - pre-ground coffee funnel (A4);
  • - infuser (A20), accessible after opening the infuser door (A19);
  • - milk container (D);
  • - hot water/steam connection nozzle (A8); Important!
  • • Do not use solvents, abrasive detergents or alcohol to clean the coffee machine. With De’Longhi superautomatic coffee machines, no chemical products are required for cleaning purposes.
  • • None of the components of the appliance can be washed in a dishwasher with the exception of the drip tray grille (A14) and milk container (D).
  • • Do not use metal objects to remove encrustations or coffee deposits as they could scratch metal or plastic surfaces.
  • 12.2 Cleaning the internal circuit If the appliance is not used for more than 3/4 days, before using it again, we strongly recommend switching it on and:
  • Page 17

  • • performing 2/3 rinse cycles by pressing (B5);
  • • release hot water for a few seconds (section “11. Delivering
  • hot water”). Please note: Water may find its way into the grounds container (A11) during the above rinse procedure: this is quite normal.

  • 12.3 Cleaning the coffee grounds container When "Empty grounds container" appears on the display (B1), the grounds container must be emptied and cleaned. The appliance cannot be used to make coffee until you have cleaned the grounds container (A11). Even if not full, the empty grounds container message is displayed 72 hours after the first coffee has been prepared. For the 72 hours to be calculated correctly, the machine must never be turned off with the main switch (A22).
  • ######## Important! Danger of scalding

    If you make a number of cappuccinos one after the other, the metal cup tray (A12) becomes hot. Wait for it to cool down before touching it and handle it from the front only.

    To clean (with the machine on):

    • Remove the drip tray (A15) (fig. 21), empty and clean.

    |21| |---|

  • • Empty the grounds container (A11) and clean thoroughly to remove all residues left on the bottom. This can be done using the spatula on the brush (C5) provided.
  • • Check the red condensate tray (A10) and empty if necessary;
  • Important! When removing the drip tray, the grounds container must be emptied, even if it contains few grounds. If this is not done, when you make the next coffees, the grounds container will fill up more than expected and clog the machine.

    12.4 Cleaning the drip tray and condensate tray Important! The drip tray (A15) is fitted with a level indicator (A13) (red) showing the amount of water it contains (fig. 22).

    |22

    | |---|

    Before the indicator protrudes from the cup tray (A12), the drip tray must be emptied and cleaned, otherwise the water may overflow the edge and damage the appliance, the surface it rests on or the surrounding area. To remove the drip tray:

  • 1. Remove the drip tray and grounds container (A11) (fig. 21);
  • 2. Remove the cup tray (A12) and drip tray grille* (A14), then empty the drip tray and grounds container and wash all components;
