Is it safe to use an extension cord with my refrigerator?
GE GE Refrigerator (39-6413.PDF) ·
GE strongly recommends against using an extension cord due to potential safety hazards. If one must be used, it must be a UL-listed, 3-wire grounding type appliance extension cord with a minimum rating of 15 amperes and 120 volts. The refrigerator should always be plugged into its own individual electrical outlet with a voltage rating that matches the rating plate. (Page 7)
