What is the proper way to connect the water supply line to the refrigerator?

Before making the connection, unplug the refrigerator power cord. Place the compression nut and ferrule onto the copper tubing, insert the tubing into the water valve connection as far as possible, and while holding the tubing, tighten the fitting. Fasten the tubing into the clamp provided to hold it in a vertical position.
