What amount of detergent should I use and how do I add it?

The amount depends on your water hardness—use extra detergent with hard water and less with soft water. Make sure the dial is in the OFF position before adding detergent. Place detergent in the main cup (all cycles except RINSE ONLY require detergent here), close the cup, and if using detergent tabs, place one tab in the main cup and close it.
