How should I prepare my refrigerator before going on vacation or moving it to a new location?

For extended vacations, shut off power to the refrigerator, turn the numbered control to OFF position, and clean the interior with a baking soda solution (one tablespoon of soda to one quart of water). Move the icemaker feeler arm to the STOP position and shut off the water supply to the refrigerator. Leave the doors open and keep an open box of baking soda inside to prevent odors. When moving, disconnect the power cord from the wall outlet, remove all food, and clean and dry the interior. Secure all loose items such as grilles and shelves by taping them securely in place. Ensure the refrigerator stays in an upright position during moving and in the van, and protect the outside with a blanket. (Pages 14)
