The front panel can display four ink cartridge error messages: Cartridge Missing, Faulty Cartridge, Cartridge Nearly Reached End of Life, and Cartridge Empty. Note that if a cartridge has passed its expiry date, it will be shown as a faulty cartridge and must be replaced. The printer will stop printing if the cartridge is empty. (Page 59)
What is the maximum print resolution of the HP DesignJet 500?
The HP DesignJet 500 can achieve a maximum resolution of 1200x600 dpi in Best (maximum detail) mode for both Line Drawing/Text and Images optimized print modes. Can I replace an ink cartridge while the printer is printing?
No, you should not replace cartridges while the printer is printing, as doing so will cancel the current print job.
