1

What is the type, size, and function of volatile memory?

The device uses DDR3-DRAM for volatile memory. The memory types are 2GB for enterprise models and 2.5GB for flow models. It functions as temporary storage during job processing and for applications running on the OS (Page 1).

2

How can I clear the volatile memory?

Volatile memory is automatically cleared whenever the device is powered off, as its contents are lost when power is removed. There are no specific steps required to manually clear this type of memory (Page 1).

3

What types of memory does the device contain?

The HP Color LaserJet Enterprise M681 and Managed E67550 series devices contain both volatile and non-volatile memory. Volatile memory is DDR3-DRAM used for temporary storage during job processing, retaining data only when powered on (Page 1). Non-volatile memory includes IOD EEPROM for backup/restore functions with a size of 32KB and SPI Flash for boot code and factory product configurations, totaling 4MB in size.

4

How can I clear the non-volatile memory?

There are no specific steps to clear the non-volatile memory, as it retains data when power is removed. Non-volatile memory includes SPI Flash which contains boot code and factory product configuration data (Page 1).

5

Does the device contain mass storage?

Yes, the device contains a hard disk drive with a size of 320GB for storing customer data, OS, applications, firmware images, persistent data, and temporary processing data (Page 2).

6

What methods can be used to securely erase the mass storage?

Secure Storage Erase overwrites temporary files and job data one or three times. Secure Disk Erase is an industry-standard ATA Secure Erase that clears all data on the hard drive, while Secure File Erase removes files after jobs finish processing by writing over them once or thrice (Page 2).
