How do I load an original document into the automatic document feeder (ADF)?

Load your original print-side up into the document feeder tray, placing portrait-oriented pages so the top edge goes in first, or landscape-oriented pages so the left edge goes in first. Slide the media into the ADF until you hear a tone or see a message on the display indicating the pages were detected, then slide the width guides inward until they stop at the left and right edges of the media. Note that the ADF only supports single-sided documents on A4 or Letter-size paper. (Page 23)
