What should I do if the printer software installation fails on Windows?

Remove the CD from the drive, disconnect the printer, restart the computer, and temporarily disable any firewall and close any anti-virus software. Then reinsert the printer software CD and follow the on-screen instructions, making sure not to connect the USB cable until prompted.
