The lint filter should be cleaned before every load by pulling it straight up and rolling the lint off with your fingers — do not rinse or wash it to remove lint. For periodic thorough cleaning, use hot soapy water and a stiff brush if the filter looks dark or dirty when held up to light, and make sure the filter is completely dry before reinstalling.
