How do I clean the lint filter, and how often should I do it?

You should clean the lint filter before every load by pulling it straight up and rolling the lint off with your fingers — do not rinse or wash it to remove lint. For a periodic thorough cleaning, if the filter looks dark or dirty when held up to the light, use hot soapy water and a stiff brush, and make sure the filter is completely dry before reinstalling. Never operate the dryer without the lint filter or with a wet lint filter. (Page 27)
