How should I prepare my refrigerator when going on vacation?
If leaving the refrigerator on, use up perishables, freeze other items, turn off the icemaker, and empty the ice bin. If turning the refrigerator off, remove all food, set the thermostat control to OFF, clean and dry the interior thoroughly, and prop both doors open with rubber or wood blocks to prevent odor and mold buildup.
