How much detergent should I use for a normal load?

For normally soiled loads with soft to medium hard water (0 to 6 grains per gallon), fill the Main Wash section to the top of the 2nd step (2 tablespoons or 30 g). For medium to hard water (7 to 12 grains per gallon), fill the Main Wash section to the top of the 3rd step (3 tablespoons or 45 g). Add only 1 tablespoon (15 g) if dishes are pre-rinsed or water is very soft (0 to 2 grains per gallon). (Page 11)
