What are the first steps to set up my K-Express Essentials coffee maker?

First, remove packing tape and plug the coffee maker into an outlet. Place a large mug (296 ml/10 oz minimum) on the drip tray, remove and rinse the water reservoir, fill it to the MAX FILL line with fresh water (not distilled), and replace it securely. Then lift and lower the handle without inserting a K-Cup® pod, and press the 8 oz button to start a cleansing brew, pouring the hot water into the sink. (Page 2)
