How do I manually defrost the refrigerator if ice builds up?

Unplug the refrigerator from the mains, remove and transfer all contents to suitable monitored storage, then leave the door open for at least 6 hours at room temperature until all ice has melted — do not use a sharp implement to remove ice as this will damage internal surfaces. Once defrosted, dry thoroughly, then allow the refrigerator to cool for at least 6 hours or until the temperature display shows the correct temperature for at least 30 minutes before reloading temperature-sensitive products.
