What type of detergent should I use and how much?

Use powder detergent only for this front loading washer. For a full load, follow the manufacturer's recommendation; for a part load use three-quarters of the normal amount; and for a minimum load use half the full load amount. Using too much detergent can cause excessive suds, which decreases washing results and may cause heavy load on the motor. (Page 14)
