What should I do before storing my dryer for an extended period?

If you will be on vacation or not using your dryer for an extended period, unplug the dryer or disconnect power, close the shut-off valve to the gas supply line (for gas dryers only), and clean the lint screen. The dryer should only be operated when you are at home.
