How should I prepare my dryer before going on vacation or moving?

For vacation, unplug the dryer or disconnect power and clean the lint screen. When moving a power supply cord-connected dryer, unplug the cord, ensure the leveling legs are secure in the dryer base, and use masking tape to secure the dryer door; for direct-wired dryers, also disconnect the wiring before securing the door.
