How should I position my router for the best WiFi performance?

Place the router near the center of the area where your devices operate, in an elevated location, and within line of sight to your WiFi devices. Keep it away from electrical devices such as microwaves, ceiling fans, cordless phones, and computers, as well as large metal or glass surfaces, mirrors, brick, and concrete. The thickness and number of walls the WiFi signal passes through can also limit range. (Page 13)
