How does the passenger sensing system work and when will it turn off the front passenger airbag?
The passenger sensing system uses sensors in the right front seat and safety belt to detect the presence and size of an occupant and determine if the frontal airbag should be enabled. The system is designed to turn off the right front passenger frontal airbag when the seat is unoccupied, when an infant or small child in a restraint is detected, or when a smaller person is seated there. When the airbag is turned off, the OFF indicator on the passenger airbag status indicator will light and stay lit. (Page 65-67)
