What does the passenger sensing system do?
The passenger sensing system is designed to turn off the right front passenger frontal airbag under certain conditions, such as when the seat is unoccupied, when an infant is in a rear-facing seat, when a small child is in a child restraint or booster seat, or when a small-sized person is occupying the seat. The system works with sensors in the right front passenger seat and safety belt to detect the presence and size of an occupant.
