What does it mean when 'E' or a fault code appears on the temperature display?

When 'E' or a similar symbol appears in the temperature display, the electronics have detected a fault. Switch off the appliance, unplug it or switch off the circuit breaker, wait 5 minutes, then reconnect and switch it back on. If the message still appears, call Customer Service. (Page 25)
