How do I safely load knives and sharp utensils in the dishwasher?

Knives and other sharp utensils should be loaded with their handles UP in the silverware basket to reduce the risk of cut-type injuries. Sharp items should also be positioned so they are not likely to damage the door seal. Do not allow children to handle or play near knives and sharp utensils, and be cautious when reaching into the large object trap, as it may contain sharp objects. (Page 5, 8)
