How do I load dishes properly in the dishwasher?

Load the dishwasher with insides of bowls, pots, and pans facing the spray arms. Avoid nesting items and contact points between dishes, and separate items of dissimilar metals. For the top rack, ensure items do not protrude through the bottom and block spray arms, and push the rack until it stops against the back of the tub. For the bottom rack, place large items upside down and do not block the vent with tall baking sheets—load these on the left side. Unload the bottom rack first, then the silverware basket, then the top rack.
