For light to average use, clean the filter system 3-6 times per year. For heavy use, clean it 8-12 times per year. You should also clean the filter system after washing loads with large amounts of food soils or heavy starch content like potatoes and pasta. Unscrew the Large Object Trap, remove the filter system, rinse under running water with a soft brush, then reinstall.
