How often should I clean the dishwasher filters?

The filter system should be cleaned 3 to 6 times per year for light to average use, and 8 to 12 times per year for heavy use. You should also clean the filters after washing loads with large amounts of food soils or heavy starch content, like potatoes and pasta. (Page 40)
