What causes my machine not to heat up?

The machine may fail to reach operating temperature if the STEAM/HOT WATER dial is not in the STANDBY position, the water tank is empty or not fully inserted and locked, or there’s a blockage that needs descaling. Allow time for heating after proper adjustments and refill as necessary before pressing POWER button again; ensure all parts are secured per instructions. (Page 28)
