What should I do with the hinged rail when the stairlift is not in use?

When your stairlift is not in use, it should always be positioned away from the hinged section with the hinge in the raised position. Before raising the manual hinged track, park the stairlift above the hinge or at the top of the stairs. When the lift moves against a folded hinge it will stop automatically, though the lift can still ride in the upwards direction. (Page 5)
