What is the recommended process to create a button hole?

Set the machine for a four-step buttonhole (stitch length between 0.5 and 1, tension from 1 to 5) with presser foot set to Sliding Buttonhole J. Carefully mark out where your desired button hole will go on fabric, aligning slider's top mark to start mark at the front of marking.
